Automating tasks to make time for fun is a core aspect of who I am, and one of the things I enjoy most about Software Engineering. I enjoy turning complex, time consuming, or repetitive tasks into simple processes, via either a documentation page, template, CLI command, shared library, or new feature. One of the best feelings is finding a solution to a problem that significantly impacts either the development team or customers.I'm looking for a remote Full-Time position as a Backend Software Engineer, using Golang, REST/gRPC, and SQL. Please feel free connect if you are hiring or recruiting for a similar position.I am a backend engineer at heart. Golang is my language of choice, a position previously held by Python; I prefer using SQL databases. I use Git for all my source control needs, and Docker for contained development environments. I write REST and gRPC APIs, and can find my way around HTML/Javascript. Outside of professional experience, I've used AWS for hosting a group chat bot, I am actively developing an app using Flutter for Android/iOS, exploring the HTMX framework, and taking a look at Rust.My best characteristic is that I enjoy learning. I don't always have the answer or the necessary information to immediately tackle a problem, but by the time the deliverable is due, you can be sure I've done the research. Paired with humbleness (I never expect my self to be the most knowledgeable on either the development or domain) and relaxed nature, I'm a great addition to any team, to learn from the other members prior experience and accept their feedback to grow.Outside of work, I can't find enough time to do everything I like to do. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my daughter. My favorite way to exercise is to ride a bike. I enjoy reading, both fantasy/sci-fi and professionally; I like to stay up to date on community news. I enjoy playing games in every category (video, board, yard, sport, etc.). And when an idea sparks, I like to do development on the side, to explore an idea I found while reading, to test a language feature, or to make something fun.
