Vp National Accounts SalesJohn Deere Landscapes Jan 2001 - May 2006United StatesMcGinnis Farms, Inc. sold to John Deere in 2001 which was used to create a new business model called John Deere Landscapes. Very quickly JDL grew to over 600 locations in 37 states and $1B+ in annual revenue. I took responsibility for a newly created position managing the National Accounts effort as John Deere Landscapes began to acquire other businesses and expand geographically across the U.S.. My charge was to identify large multi-regional contractors, structure a program for pricing, terms and effectively communicate to both their corporate and branch management. I managed the sales effort to these accounts through the John Deere Landscapes outside sales staff in all areas of the U.S.. As the business grew geographically so did the time I spent in hotels and airports, I made a career change that enabled me to sleep in my own bed and make a living where I live. When I resigned my position in 2006 sales to National Accounts were over $55M per year. In 2015 JDL transformed into Site One Landscape Supply and went public in 2016 under the ticker symbol SITE. -

I was charged with opening stores, hiring/managing staff, inventory and sales in Metro Atlanta. First in College Park, then in Stone Mountain, then in Lawrenceville. In 1995 I relocated to Nashville, TN to manage the aquisition of two businesses, Professional Turf Supply and Flower Power. Both the dominate distribution businesses in the Middle TN market, one in irrigation and the other a Retail Garden Center. I successfully integrated both wholesale irrigation and plant distribution into the Flower Power facility, while growing the Nashville location. At the same time managing an aquisition in Knoxville that gave us the full compliment of irrigation and plant distribution in that market as well.
