The pitch was opened for play at Turf City in September 2012. The inaugural match saw Singapore Select take on Singapore Barbarians. For its 10 years it provided Singaporean sports people an easily accessible top quality facility for all year use. Initially capitalised 27% debt : 73% equity (23 shareholders), the company repaid all debt within 2.5 years and equity within 6 years. Shareholders achieved an ROI of approximately 90% by the time the company ceased business, the tragic time when Turf City, a massive grassroots sports park in Singapore, closed for good making way for more residential, commercial and infrastructure development.
