A School Games Organiser (SGO) supports the delivery of the School Games and Change4Life in schools across the country. There are roughly 450 SGOs across England. The role is orientated around five ‘core tasks’ designed to provide a focus for an SGOs work programme. The core tasks for 2016/17 are: Participation: Drive school participation in School Games competition and increase the number of young people taking part in competition. Competition for all: Develop competitive opportunities for all, including the least active.Clubs: Increase regular participation in club sport; involve the least active through Change4Life Sports Clubs and increase links to local clubs. Workforce: Broaden participation opportunities through volunteering and workforce roles.Performance: Establish key performance indicators, target delivery and review progress on a termly basis.

Supporting delivery of the National Curriculum across the school whilst providing a wide variety of extra-curricular activity within the school whilst developing the schools long term and medium term PE planning with a focus on increasing participation and competition within the schoolRunning Leadership programmes within the schools in order to train staff and pupils and supporting high school Sports leaders with their leadership development. Other Roles and responsibilities include:• Offering a varied menu of activity for pupils to include a variety of different sports.• Planning opportunities and trips for the pupils which they may otherwise never get to experience such as the year 6 residential.• Assisting with play, sport, recreation, personal development, study support and cultural activity.• Working with targeted groups to build confidence, team work skills and self esteem• Community linking projects and engagement.Developing school to club links with local sports clubs as well as organizing and running competitions for the local primary schools to improve relationships between local schools and their students. Organizing and running cluster tournaments and assisted with borough wide events and festivals, running a sports competition within these larger events.Co-ordinated a comprehensive programme of holiday activities, whilst managing a budget to provide activities and book suitable activities for the group to attend. As part of this I have also carried out extensive risk assessments prior to use and passed Midas (Minibus) training to enable the group to travel together reducing the cost of transporting pupils to activities.Working with National Governing Bodies to help develop sports within the school whilst attending courses to continue my personal professional development.

Supporting delivery of the Extended School core offer as guidance for the work/ provision organised within and across clusters including• Child and family health with swift easy access to a wide range of specialist services. • Varied menu of activity including study support, play, sport, recreation, personal development and cultural activity. • Community use and engagement.Work along side cluster ESDO and Integrated Youth Officer to support the use of disadvantage subsidy funding. Delivering curriculim PE and extra curricular activities in schools accross the borough. Leadership programmes have often been requested by schools in order to train their staff or pupils. These have included the delivery of Young Leaders programmes to groups of young people within the primary schools. Working in local secondary schools to deliver Level 1 and 2 leadership awards in sport, as well as training Mid day supervisors to develop their skills at leading activities during lunch times. Throughout my time at Oldham Sports development I have developed community links with relevant practitioners within the locality to develop coordinated school and community based provision and events. I have organised and run cluster tournaments and assisted with borough wide events and festivals, running a sports competition withing these larger events. I have organised and run family event days to provide opportunities for parents and pupils to participate in activities both independently and together (Intergenerational working).I have Co-ordinated and publicised a comprehensive programme of holiday activities, managing a budget to provide activities and book suitable venues for the holiday programme. As part of this I have also carried out extensive risk assessments prior to use. Working with National Governing Bodies to help develop sports accross the borough. This includes writing development plans for the sports to be followed by colleagues
