I am privileged to chair the board of B-Inspired, the Braunstone Foundation http://www.b-inspired.org.uk. B-inspired is the trading name of the Braunstone Foundation and is a neighbourhood-based charity in Braunstone, Leicester. We established in 2010 to carry forward the ground breaking work and legacy created by the BCA since 2000. We have worked to change Braunstone for the better, and together we have achieved a great deal. Working with the community, we have gained a unique insight into the real life issues close to the hearts of our residents. In identifying these issues, we have built active relationships with a huge number of organisations over a wide spectrum and have successfully delivered products and services for local people. I am grateful to have support from excellent fellow trustees and a fantastic staff team who's CEO Angie Wright says “Ability proceeds from a fusion of skills, knowledge, understanding and imagination, consolidated by experience.” I see my role as to support our vision with some insights, connections and the odd touch of humour.

I am a trainer and consultant specialising in regeneration, housing and community development with an emphasis on empowering residents in communities to shape, influence and improve the services they receive.I am part of the Engage Associates network of independent trainers and consultants as well as the Trafford Hall Trainers' Network.My clients include residents groups, housing associations and local authorities, regeneration agencies and partnerships as well as government departments.I currently act as a Big Local Area Advisor supporting communities as part of the Big Local Lottery funded programme managed by Local Trust. I've been in this role since 2011 and am currently supporting St Matthews Big Local in Leicester www.stmatthewsbiglocal.com, Kingswood and Hazel Leys Big Local in Corby, Arley and Ansley Big Local in North Warwickshire and Brereton Million https://www.breretonmillion.co.uk in Rugely in Staffordshire. As a Social Investment Rep I advised 10 Big Local areas; specifically Westfield in Sheffield for an asset transfer, KHL Big Local in Corby on working with a credit union, and St Matthews in Leicester on their business loans initiative with MCF Loans a CDFI.
