Tim Patrick is a Software Designer and Developer at TAP Software Solutions and Consulting Inc. at TAP Software Solutions and Consulting Inc.. He possess expertise in systems management, automated operations and helpdesk applications, systems integration, object oriented analysis and design, object oriented programming and 26 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Tim was highly regarded as BMO's top AO development speciailst and over several years had combined his Assembler programming skills with his deep understanding of the ZOS Netview API's, REXX/CLIST coding, etc.. to design a comprehensive mainframe automation environment he called NCM (Netview Configuration Manager). Tim's NCM platform is fully entrenched in our mainframe environment and it automates every major complex task that is involved in computer operations. For example, all CICS Region/Application startups/shutdowns are automatically controlled not just by the updateable SLA schedule but also by the state of all dependancies (batch run etc...) NCM also handles complex LPAR migration tasks like quiescing and migrating an application with all it's dependancies (database etc..) from one LPAR to another, all via one NCM Command. NCM also manages virtually every aspect of our mainframe network environment. Only Tim would be able adequately describe everything NCM does or is capable of doing. The key component of NCM that I focused my attention on was the Front-End Java Console Tim developed to provide Operators with a graphical interface view of the entire enviroment, It supports both technology based and Line of Business based views, and is fully customizable. This NCM/OMC (Operations Management Console) depicts live resource/component states (i.e. green, yellow, red, etc...) along with a detailed scrolling message log. It is fully interactive so you can right click on any "Object" and see a drop-down list of context specific commands you can run to query or take recovery actions. Even the message log is interactive. You can click on any message or individual word/token in the log and pull that token into a dropdown command as a variable. There are also user customizable "Toolbars" that include buttons you can create to lanch any command you want and optionally be prompted for variable inputs. There is a user customizable message table that you can add filters to to trap any message before it hits the log, then change its colour, trigger an automated command/task, or even generate an AUDIO ALERT! and the audio alerts are also fully customizable as text because they are interpreted on the fly (or pre-recorded if you prefer) by a text to speech engine. Lastly NCM/OMC is integrated with Tim's other automation masterpiece,... the NCM Automated Escalation Server/Database. I can't even begin to describe how beneficial that is to our Incident Management process. It features automated oncall escalations based on schedules for every support group. The support groups have their own GUI interface to update and maintain their own oncall schedule, along with contact preferences (RIM, pager, cell, home phone etc...) I could also go on about how Tim even intergated all the above with our Incident Record ticketing system etc... But suffice it to say: I would highly recommend Tim for any top/senior role that involves Systems Automation."
