When my role as CEO of Local Buy was completed following the amalgamation of the LGAQ Businesses myself and my Business Partner Deb Colledge took the opportunity to form the company Council Business Solutions we have been working in a variety of consultancy roles in many Councils including Balonne, Barcoo, Cook, Hinchinbrook, Paroo, Southern Downs, South Burnett, Hinchinbrook, Noosa, Quilpie and Whitsunday.

Held the position of CEO whilst the Interim CEO was on leave

I filled the role of CEO whilst the council were working on moving toward a new CEO. Mapoon Council is based on the Western Gulf of Carpentaria and is one of the truely beautiful locations within Queensland

I have had the opportunity to work with a very remote but very friendly and well run council in South -West Queensland whilst they were filling the role as CEO.

Local Buy is owned by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and provides procurement services to councils and government entities. Our core business is focused on establishing common-use procurement arrangements specifically designed for government owned entities. Our services include managed tenders, energy audits, training, procurement advisory services, provision of template documentation and administration of the Queensland Procurement Network (QPN).Local Buy has over 40 contractual arrangements which encompass Goods and Services, Fleet, Works and Energy arrangements. All arrangements are developed internally by our qualified category managers with assistance from Local Government and industry experts.

Following a long career in Local government and after being involved in the Local Government amalgamation I took the opportunity to work for the National Australia Bank as the Head of Government Business in Queensland.I was the major point of contact for all Government clients in Queensland, I was responsible for the provision of Financial and Banking Facilities for Government clients on behalf of the National Australia Bank in Queensland. I was required to identify and develop relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside of the bank.

As CEO of Burnett Shire Council, I worked closely with the Mayor and Councillors to develop and implement policy decisions and guide and develop the senior management team to fulfil council's strategic direction.Key responsibilities included:• Liaison between council and staff for administrating policy and implementing council resolutions• Internal and external negotiation on behalf of council, including state and federal government departments• Presenting at public forums in relation to a variety of council and community issues• Collaboration with Economic and Tourist Development Officer to promote Burnett Shire• Identification and development business and revenue streams• Enterprise Bargaining including liaison and negotiation and unions.

As the former Leader of this very busy and isolated Council. I worked in close liaison with the Mayor, councillors , employees and the community to develop programs that successfully turned around the desperate financial position after council had been declared 'financially unsustainable' by the Queensland Government in 1997.
