Senior architect for a class B system that integrates imaging and AI to support analysis and decision making for microbiologists and pathology laboratories. Tim also contributed the web interface on a realtime handheld class B medical device, and has applied his knowledge of Unix systems and UI to support other projects at Hydrix.Responsibilities* Design and implementation of a reporting and web user interface, in close collaboration with the client.* Mentoring new software engineers to the project, and to the company.* Evaluation, validation and ongoing support for in-house systems for managing Hydrix operations.* Delivering in-house training and support to other engineers and projects.* Support for business development, estimates and evaluations.Achievements* Gained proficiency in use and application of IEC 62304.Led teams of 2-6 in regulated software development.* Implemented a review and reporting interface that was used to demonstrate prototype capabilities to investors and at biomedical conferences.* Integrated a web server and web application to an embedded realtime medical device.* Redesigned the project build system to operate more efficiently, reliably and integrate with the testing and CI system, now used on all Linux projects.

Tim joined Envato as the manager and senior developer for “Tuts+ Premium”, Envato’s subscription-based tutorial site.Management is Agile, development is TDD. The platform is a mix of WordPress and Ruby on Rails, deployment is to the cloud.Responsibilities* Managed a team of 3 developers, including one remote staff.* Maintenance of several smaller PHP and Rails sites.Achievements* Migrated Tuts+ Premium through various cloud providers (Rackspace, Linode, AWS).* Re-engineered the Tuts+ Premium prototype, reducing system complexity and adding several major components and integration with 3rd party systems for payment, campaign management etc.

Tim joined CEOS in 2008 primarily to head up a project “Tirtlnet”, that provides data management and reporting facilities for nodes of intelligent traffic monitoring units over 3G networks.This project was key to CEOS’s plan to extend its business to service/annuity income.Responsibilities* Architect, principal developer for Tirtlnet.* Web applications GUI designer and development.Achievements* Successfully deployed Tirtlnet to a live system supporting hundreds of devices, enabling the customer support staff to scale their operations during a time of rapid sales growth.* Created a build, test, and deployment framework for tirtlnet based on the Debian packaging system.Led several strategic projects to integrate tirtlnet with cameras and other roadside equipment.

Responsibilities* Product extension and internal application development for the Australian market.* Coordinating software development with the UK, HK development teams.Achievements* Led and managed a 4 person team to redesign and re-implement the e-mail quarantine system.* Designed cluster reporting and management facilities required by larger and distributed configurations.* Created fine-grained web traffic session behaviour analysis and reporting for the core product.

* Created the GUI design and requirements brief for a novel protocol analyser project in collaboration with subject matter experts at Catapult’s Raleigh (NC, USA) offices.* Initiated a project to reduce memory usage by 20%, and led a geographically dispersed team to implement it.

Created a web-based practice management system for the consulting staff that was adopted throughout the organisation for reporting, billing and coordination.Worked with a 4 person team to build a metadata editor for their network capacity management system (Capacity Integrator, “CI”), that was used by local and international Telcos.* Conducted all user interviews and requirements analysis with OT’s subject matter experts.* Co-wrote the project’s vision, requirements, use-case, project planning documents.* Completed the GUI design and implemented the main GUI framework in Java/Swing.
