I worked on a freelance basis, independently but to a company brief, to create the packaging artworks for this producer of skincare products. During this time I tendered for contracts, in competition with design agencies, and won commissions to create packaging for exciting new product ranges as well as revamping the packaging of existing ranges. During this period, I found a real enthusiasm for typography and graphical elements in brand design.

Served as an intern at this highly regarded consultancy where I was fortunate enough to work on a variety of projects in product and packaging design for an array of well-known brands such as Gatorade, Barclaycard, Dove, Durex and Dr Martens. I gained a much greater appreciation of how meticulous and extensive the design process must be in industry. It was also an inspiration to work in an environment where quality of design work was considered the most important priority of the company.

Zwolle, Netherlands

A small company based abroad that specialised in the design of bespoke partition wall systems within office spaces. Wallsz would assist clients in turning an empty space into a custom built, functional environment. As a design intern I set about creating an animation that would better advertise the company and improve the website user experience. I had to teach myself how to use Cinema 4d and Adobe After Effects to accomplish this. It is also worth noting that this was the second time that I have lived and worked in the Netherlands after having spent 3 months there playing rugby during my gap year. By doing so I acquired greater independence and basic Dutch language skills.

I assisted the newspaper’s graphics desk in creating information visuals for use in the daily news, business, sport, and travel sections. It gave me an insight into how a large company, with many different departments, can work together to achieve deadlines.
