At Deepfield, we analyze over 100 terabits-per-second of internet traffic in real time to block security threats, improve network performance, and drive optimal configuration and control policies.Deepfield is deployed to the cloud (AWS) when possible, however, many customers require we use their datacenters, so we leverage Docker to maintain sanity in the heterogeneous environment. Our big-data pipeline fuses a custom, real-time engine with Cloudera Impala for storage and analysis (Pandas, Numpy, Apache Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce).My primary role as a member of the Deepfield engineering team has been in platform, API and big data pipeline development. We constantly ship code to customers using an agile iteration backed with continuous integration. We mostly develop software in Python, C, and Javascript.

Philmont Scout Ranch is the Boy Scouts of America's largest national High Adventure Base. Its 34 staffed camps and 55 trail camps across 140,180 acres provide an unforgettable adventure in the high country along hundreds of miles of rugged, rocky trails for 22,000 participants each summer.As a Ranger, it was my job to instruct and prepare crews of around eight youth and up to four adult leaders for a 12-day trek in the backcountry. I instructed crews on essential skills such as Leave No Trace outdoor ethics, bear procedures, navigation and orientation, backcountry cooking, and good crew dynamics -all in just three and a half days before sending them on their own.
