I have spent over 25 years involved in providing Engineering Information and Data Management for Powerlink Queensland and ElectraNet, BHPB Olympic Dam Expansion, QER, Santos GLNG project, Shell QGC and other clients. This has involved dealing with internal teams, external design partners and vendors to make sure the information supplied and stored is accurate and controlled. I have been involved at all stages of projects from specifying of contracts, running workshops for business requirements gathering and specifying solution requirements, implementation including data migration, testing, training and change management through to handover and project completion.I led the team to develop the required standards at GLNG to implement the EDMS. These standards include document classification structures, plant breakdown structures (PBS), tag and equipment structures and associated metadata and attributes. Along with the Standards for how this data was captured, I had to include the development of naming and numbering standards. These standards were developed to allow implementation into the EDMS and capture of data for project and operations data.I have a good understanding of products from the major vendors in the engineering space I have dealt with including Hexagon (Intergraph), Bentley, Aveva and Autodesk. I have been involved in specifying and implementation of Intergraph’s AIM/Directa and SmartPlant Foundation. I have also managed the implementation of Bentley ProjectWise and Aveva VNet solutions. I have been heavily involved in implementing design tools from Bentley including Inside Plant, MicroStation, Inroads as well as many add on applications like publishing tools from Corporate Montage, DGNConform and Axiom productivity toolkits.My current role involves both high level and detailed planning of Engineering Data Management solutions. This includes reviewing current status and providing a roadmap to achieve required outcomes. This has covered everything from new solution builds from scratch, through to improving access, relating and cleansing existing data and providing better visualization of information. I have presented at numerous conferences and also kept my knowledge of competing tools up to date by attendance at vendor conferences. I have also had many years’ experience of setup, configuration and management of 2D Design Tools. My roles have also allowed me to be involved with the delivery of configuration management systems as well as corporate document management systems.
