Tim is a partner in Carey Olsen's British Virgin Islands (BVI) Dispute Resolution and Litigation team, practising BVI law from Carey Olsen’s London office. He has recently relocated to London after living and working in the BVI for eight years. Legal experienceTim is qualified as a Solicitor and Barrister and has invaluable frontline advocacy experience in the BVI. He is now one of the most experienced offshore litigators based in London. His practice includes all elements of shareholder and company disputes, cross-border fraud and asset tracing, injunctions, trusts, insolvency and restructuring. Tim's cases are often complex multi-jurisdictional disputes which involve working with professional advisors in other countries and time zones. He is well versed in new litigation trends such as cryptocurrency and digital asset disputes, and cases involving economic sanctions.CareerTim studied Law at Cambridge University and trained at Herbert Smith Freehills in London. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2009, and subsequently as a Solicitor Advocate and Barrister (Lincoln's Inn, London). He was admitted to practice in the BVI in March 2015.Tim also has experience in Caribbean criminal appeals on a pro bono basis. He took two Jamaican murder appeals to full hearings at the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and received judicial recognition for his efforts.Tim is a member of INSOL and sat on the Board of the BVI’s Recovery and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA) for four years while working in the BVI.
