I enjoy solving those complex and apparently impossible problems. I spend my time now using all that I’ve learnt from technology development, working with people and creating collaboration, to embed sustainability into the whole of the supply chain. I want to see a future where we don’t just make net zero products, but we do so with fully sustainable materials, technologies and practices. I have enjoyed developing new materials and technologies that underpin some of the most advanced engineering products, from renewable energy to net zero flight. I do this through the delivery to projects and the forming of collaboration and partnerships and have learnt some hard lessons along the way. My time as a doctoral student to chartered engineer gave me the experience of taking customer problems, creating plans and then executing them to deliver an answer or a product. I have had to take critical feedback and adapt to ensure that we don’t just meet the delivery requirements but exceed expectations.I have built and managed teams, then groups of teams. I have been fortunate to experience working with more experienced people in different disciplines which has taught me that leadership isn’t just about setting direction and making decisions, but how to serve and support to ensure the whole teams success.
