“Hello, may I ask who is speaking please?”This is how my father trained me to answer the house phone at the age of 6. Back then, landlines were still the most common form of communication, and as the designated “operator” of our home, I was tasked with answering every call. In retrospect, that role gave me more than just responsibility—it taught me how to convey a message.Years later, I left the southeast coast of the UK to pursue higher education in the United States on a soccer scholarship, an experience that helped me learn a lot about myself.Upon graduating, I joined a sell-side advisory firm dedicated to helping business owners transition their companies. On my first day, the managing partners sat me down and asked me to call them and inquire about the sale of their business.I gave it my best shot, and soon after, I was seated in the main lobby, phone in hand, with a few hundred local businesses to connect with. Over the next few years, I gained a deep understanding of business fundamentals, closely working with transitioning companies across various sectors. In the process, I built relationships with business owners and private equity personnel, all with the shared goal of fostering strategic partnerships. Today, I co-run SEA Equity, a firm dedicated to connecting private equity with business owners and what I enjoy most is being part of an ecosystem that helps those who have taken the challenging path of business ownership to secure a meaningful exit or a strategic growth partnership.We are currently focused on connecting succession-planning or growth-motivated Registered Investment Advisors and a variety of Business Services companies with private capital options across the US.
