I have worked in various Community and Youth settings with some "hard to reach" groups , particularly Young Irish Traveller Men. I have also worked in a Homeless Day Shelter and have performed detached Youth Work locally. I have previously worked as a support worker with in a supported housing project for homeless young people aged 16-25, i have also worked as a Personal Care Assistant with a young person who has cerebral palsy. I have previously worked with 16-25 year old Young a people who are experiencing homelessness. I currently work with school age children at TAS who are not in mainstream education , I provide community outreach, 1-1 support and engaging in teaching a specially created curriculum that is focused on individual children’s particular needs. We engage in many outdoor activities as well as classroom based ones to stimulate and hopefully provide inspiration and learning. I also DJ and have been a Selector on various Sound Systems , I have also been a collector and seller of rare records for many years, in all genres and variations of Reggae and Soul. I play original press 45s and rarities. I'm always open to learning new things and have a natural thirst for knowledge. I recently competed a level 2 in Counselling Skills and will possibly be doing a diploma in the next few years so that I would then be able to practice as a qualified counsellor.Over the last few years I have been working at The Alternative School which provides education, mentoring and support to children who are not catered for or have been excluded from Mainstream education. I have learnt to teach a variety of subjects including Numeracy and Literacy. I see the benefits of hands on outdoor activities with my students and try to provide as much of these as possible including Hill Walking, Gardening and regular Farm visits.I have also just taken on the role of Duke of Edinburgh Award Manager and I’m administering it across 3 centres. Creating programme plans and planning the outdoor expeditions.
