The Waukesha County Center for Growth, Inc. was founded in 2016. Waukesha County, UW-Small Business Development Center, The Waukesha County Business Alliance and the City of Waukesha have been joined by eleven other municipalities in this County-wide effort. Our staff meets and works with businesses to assist retention and expansion needs in Waukesha County, as well as companies considering a new location in the County. Since 2016, we have assisted more than 90 companies, making capital expenditures in excess of $250 million, and creating and retaining more than 2000 jobs.

Milwaukee

Taught graduate level Planning Local Economic Development, and undergrad Urban Planning. Researching topics in depth, and the interaction with students and guest presenters refreshed my understanding of planning and economic development theory and practice.

Worked with Mayor, CD Director and others to plan and implement economic development projects. Assisted in creation of TIF Districts to facilitate Milwaukee Tool's headquarters, leading to 500 new jobs; 26 acre Gumina Commerce Center to provide modern industrial space on Capitol Drive; and The Corridor, a 66 acre mixed-use project with ProHealth Care Clinic, Lifetime Fitness, two hotels, Portillo's, Dick's Sporting Goods, with retail and office to follow.Worked with stakeholders to advance development and assist small business growth in the 124th St. Commerce District and the Historic Village area. Assisted in advancing Brookfield Conference Center and hotel south of Brookfield Square, and redevelopment of Calhoun Crossing, bringing refreshed retail offerings to Brookfield.

Served on the Milwaukee County Research Park Board of Directors, working with other board members and staff to continue high quality development and growth of technology companies and jobs at the Research Park/County Grounds.

Active in 30th St. ICC for 13 years, 5 as President, as we built the organization and planned for the redevelopment now underway. Business leaders and property owners in the area committed to creation of a Business Improvement District which provides vital services to the area. The City of Milwaukee is transforming 84 acres of the former Tower Automotive site into the Century City urban business park. Good City Brewing has located a facility there, while shovel ready sites are available for development.

Moved Wauwatosa Chamber to the Technology Innovation Center at the Research Park. Executive Director and Board are growing membership and building community of interest.

Founded Equity Commercial Real Estate in 2005 with two partners. Leased and sold commercial properties for a range of clients. Completed feasibility studies, consulting projects and real estate assignments for a number of Wisconsin municipalities/Community Development Authorities.

Elected to Wauwatosa City Council three times. Served on Budget and Finanace Committee for ten years, four as Chair; Personnel; Traffic & Safety. Enjoyed serving community and working with two Mayors, colleagues and staff to keep Wauwatosa strong, while advancing new development.

Opened CenterPoint's Wisconsin office, acquired 12 buildings totalling 1 million square feet, developed 3 buildings totalling 400,000 square feet, leased 1.5 million square feet to 20+ tenants.

Worked with two County Executives and County Board to initiate and approve projects including Milwaukee County Research Park & Technology Innovation Center; redevelopment of the former Cross & Trecker plant in West Allis by Quad/Graphics; development of the Harnischfeger (FBI) Headquarters in St. Francis, and planning for the Mitchell International Business Park in Cudahy.
