I worked on a wide variety of Major Event projects for Wellington City Council with a focus on attracting and developing a major events portfolio that supported our wider economic development and international profile aspirations of Wellington city. For over a decade I have build up extensive experience (both public and private sector) in event bidding processes, rights negotiations, planning and corporate communications. I managed Wellington City Councils investment in economic impact research into major events and have acted in project management roles to deliver successful events from professional sport (namely Football, Rugby and Cricket), to major film premieres and nationally significant New Zealand Defence Force events. Rugby World Cup 2011 in Wellington was very successful with well over two years of planning behind an intense period of event delivery during September/October this year. During this time I was responsible for the delivery of commercial and branding plans for Wellington’s official RWC 2011 Fanzone. Other areas of responsibility also included live broadcast planning for all public screenings through the tournament, managing the delivery of a regional economic impact report and assisting to secure Central Government funding for Real NZ Festival events.
