Managed a portfolio of IP capacity/ DWDM (Fiber Recovery) migration programs, utilizing CA Clarity Project Management System and internal engineer tools, scheduling and document management systems. Directed multiple Sprint Core Network capital improvement and EOL element replacement programs. These programs consisted of hundreds of geographical implementation projects that required tracking/communications with on/off shore planning/engineering and deployment teams. Submitted weekly status reports and monthly change requests to account for work that was placed into operational status. Facilitated ad-hoc technical/schedule problem solving meetings with teams to achieve the best deployment outcome. Engineered a major technology infrastructure upgrade program to meet the University’s growth objectives and to meet the demands of the 21st Century student’s online lifestyle while reducing operating costs. This program consisted of numerous projects ranging from development of architectural guidelines, execution plans, security & access policies, outsourcing and funding options, deployment plan/schedules and creation of BOK at program closure. Projects hi-lighted below were completed on schedule with outcomes meeting or exceeding program objectives: • Virtualization – Servers and Desktops: Virtualized 30 Dell servers and 300 desktops with the Cisco Flex-Pod hardware platform combined with VMware software control and NetApps SAN. • Single Sign-ON Portal: Managed a team of developers to integrate a secure web interface that provides the university community access to commonly used applications.• Dual homed ISP: Increased network reliability/bandwidth while reducing operational cost. Added competitive ISP and interconnect exist ISP with IBGP providing automatic failover. Increased network availability; bandwidth pool was expanded by over 300% and operating cost were reduced by 20% resulting from the new competitive position.• Expanded and Secured Network Coverage: Deployed a campus-wide secured advanced wireless service (802.11n+) providing seamless coverage while assuring fair access to residents, faculty and staff. • System/Service Delivery Assurance: The Integration of a fault and performance monitoring system (Orion’s Solarwinds) combined with a Service Control Engine (Cisco) for traffic shaping policies guaranteed infrastructure assets were being used effectively. • Long-term Infrastructure Support and BOK: Evaluated and assured that mission critical infrastructure assets purchased for this program have service contracts for 5 years. Development of a detailed Book of Knowledge was completed and was accepted at the end of this 12 month project.

Lead Technical Engineer, SME and liaison for Sprint's CTO office. • Meshed “Wireless fiber” project: This field trial project was to validate the reliability and usability of vendor implementation of the emerging technology “e-band” to meet the escalating demand for backhaul bandwidth when 4G wireless access networks emerged. The objectives of the project were to capture and correlate test traffic over a 7 mile link against weather events. Results were shared with University of Kansas Technology Center resulting in paper submissions to the IEEE. The field trial provided valuable input into the installation/maintenance issues of this technology and reliability statistics used in modeling for the 18 month trial. • Technology Architect for 4G launch: Served on a team of technologist assigned to develop the infrastructure of Sprint’s XOHM 4G wireless products. Specific focus on alternative high capacity backhaul solutions which required me to serve in the role of a change agent.• Digital Cinema Delivery Product Team: Preformed site analysis and fixed wireless product recommendation for mass delivery of digital cinema over Sprint’s IP network. This initiative provided timely delivery of Hollywood release content by leveraging Sprint’s network on off peak times. • Patent Portfolio: Awarded five patent claims that resulted from insight of the application of wireless technologies and end-user applications.

• Technology Architect/SME: Researched and authored Technology Evolution Plans (TEP) for fixed wireless access technologies, Broadband over Powerline, and Entertainment service delivery. • Technical Liaison: Provided technical support to Sprint Sales group on customer access and backhaul solutions for Sprint’s IP based network. This included technical inputs to support TCO/ROI models developed by finance team.• Field Trial Team Leader: Facilitated a team to develop several vendor field/lab test-plans. This included direct involvement with SCM to work through the RFI/RFP.• Lead Technology Liaison: Represented Sprint’s technical requirements for research projects at MIT Media Lab and Georgia Tech Digital Home. Attended and participated in technology summits and project review meetings. • Patent Portfolio: Awarded five patent claims that resulted from the acumen of the application of fixed wireless, wireless and BPL technologies.

Technology Architect: Authored the “21ST Century Corporate Campus Technology Plan” to reinforce the values of converged network services as Sprint began the construction on a 17,500 associate, 18 building state of the art campus. This concept at the time was internally controversial and required technical influence to evoke change. • Technology Development: Researched emerging technology focusing on personal productivity and group collaboration. Evaluated and tested open source technology solutions such as Linux, Apache web servers. • Merger & acquisition Team: Managed a field trial that correlated weather events (rain rate) to the vendor’s fixed wireless performance. The results from this study suggested that the vendor’s solution did not perform as promised which directly impacted the maximum deployment distance and negatively impacted financial models.

• Engineering Services Group (profit center): Managed a diverse team of 20 associates that provided CAD and engineering application support major petrochemical projects domestic and international. This team supporting a wide variety of applications and service which were ISO 9001 certified, which included 24x7 helpdesk, electronic model/drawing translation services and a video conferencing center. Annual net profits up to 2MM were added to the corporation’s bottom line.• Digital Drawings conversion: By leveraging the technology advancements of LANs, desktop CAD systems, printing/plotting devices and end-user training the work staff converted from drafting tables to digital workstation to generate the thousands of documents required for each project. This method was internally controversial and required technical influence and proof to evoke change.• WAN/LAN Engineering: Provided oversight for numerous domestic WAN projects using dedicated and ISDN services. Developed and executed technology project plans and coordination procedures to achieving the best automation strategy with the major petro-chemical companies.• Associate Satisfaction: Performed semi-annual employee development plan and performance reviews. Fostered advanced technical skills, personal professional growth and team dynamics training for all levels of the group.

• Desktop Automation: Managed a small team that installed and maintained the first 2,500 professional workstations. This team was highly successful in service delivery by leveraging a team of department liaisons to provide 1 tier support.• Software Development: Developed a standardized application that provided end-users an interface for DOS based applications and accounted for project/department usage for resources allocation.

Gardner Pharmacy July 1986 – August 1991• Retail management: Co-managed an independent Pharmacy in Gardner, KS, which served a local hospital and retail customers.• Software Development: Collaborated with pharmacy professionals to develop an integrated software application that automated the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy, including online claims adjudication, compliance and customer service reports.

• Application support specialist: Maintained and tested code changes in complex engineering HVAC modeling programs. Worked directly with CEO/Chief Engineer to understand the validate requirements and to assure the enhancements were available to the field sales team and internal end-users.• Desktop Support: Provided telephone support for IBM PC application problems.
