Projects hi-lighted below were completed on schedule with outcomes meeting or exceeding program objectives: • Virtualization – Servers and Desktops: Virtualized 30 Dell servers and 300 desktops with the Cisco Flex-Pod hardware platform combined with VMware software control and NetApps SAN. • Single Sign-ON Portal: Managed a team of developers to integrate a secure web interface that provides the university community access to commonly used applications.• Dual homed ISP: Increased network reliability/bandwidth while reducing operational cost. Added competitive ISP and interconnect exist ISP with IBGP providing automatic failover. Increased network availability; bandwidth pool was expanded by over 300% and operating cost were reduced by 20% resulting from the new competitive position.• Expanded and Secured Network Coverage: Deployed a campus-wide secured advanced wireless service (802.11n+) providing seamless coverage while assuring fair access to residents, faculty and staff. • System/Service Delivery Assurance: The Integration of a fault and performance monitoring system (Orion’s Solarwinds) combined with a Service Control Engine (Cisco) for traffic shaping policies guaranteed infrastructure assets were being used effectively. • Long-term Infrastructure Support and BOK: Evaluated and assured that mission critical infrastructure assets purchased for this program have service contracts for 5 years.     Lead Technical Engineer, SME and liaison for Sprint's CTO office. • Meshed “Wireless fiber” project: This field trial project was to validate the reliability and usability of vendor implementation of the emerging technology “e-band” to meet the escalating demand for backhaul bandwidth when 4G wireless access networks emerged. The objectives of the project were to capture and correlate test traffic over a 7 mile link against weather events. Results were shared with University of Kansas Technology Center resulting in paper submissions to the IEEE. The field trial provided valuable input into the installation/maintenance issues of this technology and reliability statistics used in modeling for the 18 month trial. • Technology Architect for 4G launch: Served on a team of technologist assigned to develop the infrastructure of Sprint’s XOHM 4G wireless products. Specific focus on alternative high capacity backhaul solutions which required me to serve in the role of a change agent.• Digital Cinema Delivery Product Team: Preformed site analysis and fixed wireless product recommendation for mass delivery of digital cinema over Sprint’s IP network. This initiative provided timely delivery of Hollywood release content by leveraging Sprint’s network on off peak times. • Patent Portfolio: Awarded five patent claims that resulted from insight of the application of wireless technologies and end-user applications.
