I'm an accidental entrepreneur and apparently an internet veteran with an early start on dial-up in 1994. I did web design back when all it took was WS_FTP, PaintShop Pro, Notepad and Mosaic. I remember when I first used Netscape Navigator and my excitement when Internet Explorer 1.0 came out. A proud Windows 95 beta tester, I still keep a Win 95 VM around to reminisce about the good old days and that revolutionary, hyper-threaded jump from Windows 3.1.I started making "web pages" in 1996 for some local businesses in Lebanon County and surrounding areas. After high school, I went to Elizabethtown College to study information systems. For some reason, I signed up for a week long job shadow at the Penn State College of Medicine as a freshman. Little did I know that shadowing gig would change my career trajectory and entire life plan for the better. After they realized I knew HTML, the shadowing turned into a paid internship, which turned into a full-time position by January 2000. I had to choose my first retirement plan at age 19. Because of my new job, I left Elizabethtown College before my second semester sophomore year and transferred to Penn State Harrisburg (hello employee tuition discount!)By 2005, Mile6 had grown and so did the workload and my free time was quickly dwindling. I decided to resign from Penn State and see if I could work for myself full-time. Three years later in 2008, I hired my first full-time coworker.Today I still feel blessed that I get to lead Mile6, a digital product agency. We're a passionate and growing U.S.-based team of over a dozen designers, engineers, strategists and support staff located in multiple states. We take a quality-first approach, stick to our strengths to avoid diluting our expertise, serve our community, collaborate with our talented partners and have fun. While I don't get to do much programming or design work anymore, I'm at ease with it because I have surrounded myself with a brilliant team of coworkers!
