At EBPI I work in on blockchain. Our main focus areas are self sovereign identity, supply chain and healthcare. Among other things, we are Sovrin steward.EBPI has been acquired by Visma in February 2019

At Alliander R&D IT I mainly focus on applications of blockchain technology in the energy sector. I have developed smart contracts on the ethereum network and worked out several blockchain use cases for the energy market. I have also conducted research on deep learning with Caffe framework for object recognition and I programmed cuda cores to speed up calculations (basically using multithreading with NVIDIA GPU).

During my trainship I have worked at several departments. I have worked on models to predict energy consumption and aging of assets. For my second assignment I have conducted research into dynamic pressure management for gas.

For my Master's degree internship I conducted research into renormalization groups. Renormalization is a procedure used because we use perturbation theory. My goal was to create a toy model in zero dimensions that can get rid of all the infinities in a phi to the fourth theory.

As a teaching assistant I help bachelor students to make their homework and help them understand the material for their exams. I assist(ed) in vibrations & waves and electrodynamics for physics students, linear algebra for chemistry students and in statistics for biology students.

The BBB foundation organizes an annual event at our faculty during which more than 40 companies in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics and informational studies present themselves to the students. Throughout the year, the foundation provides students with information on job interviews, CV's and career choices through workshops and interactive panel forums.

In CERN I worked for eight weeks as a summer student at the detector group of the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC). In CLIC I worked on the vertex detector. The vertex detector measures the particle tracks very close to the interaction point. One of my assignments was to run test with a Timepix readout chip. Eventually we aim to find new detectors specialized for the CLIC vertex detector called CLICPix that will take advantage of its train structure to do power pulsing.I have also written a Monte Carlo algorithm that will simulate the charge collection processes in semiconductor silicon vertex detectors under the environmental condition of CLIC. This algorithm will be used to tune the sensor in the vertex detector.

Giving extra lessons to high school students in physics and mathematics. I also wrote exams for students. These exams are being used to prepare students for their final exams.

During this internship I solved higher order quantum corrections for the gluino production from gluon's. I also calculated the colour decomposition for this process. The results of my thesis may be used in CERN. Gluon's are supersymmetric particles. Supersymmetry is an extension of the standard model. With supersymmetry it is possible to explain the existence of dark matter.

As part of my honours program I worked in an interdisciplinary group to conduct research on sustainable deltas. For this project we were sponsored by Royal Haskoning to gather information in New Orleans for two weeks. My main contribution was to do research into the influence of invasive species on the deltas of New Orleans. Back in Holland we combined our results to write an interdisciplinary report.
