Following the company's re-location from central London to Dartford in Kent, at end of 2020 I changed my role and started writing quotes for fire protection jobs from existing clients. These were typically based on fire protection surveys that either we or a third-party contractor had carried out at a client's premises. It was my job to identify any deficiencies noted by the engineers carrying out the survey and suggest a fully costed remedy within the client's budget.Clients comprised a wide range of property management companies including CBRE, Jaguar, and Savills.

Onyx Fire & Security is one of the leading providers of high-quality fire and security solutions and have helped clients design, build and maintain their fire safety and security assets to protect their buildings and staff.I joined the company at the start of 2020 and was given the responsibility for identifying private and public tenders for a wide-range of fire protection projects and then submitting our bid, which entailed liaising with both our financial and operations team. Within my time in this role we successfully quoted for a selection of passive fire protection jobs for a host of large-scale construction and property management companies including Nido, Vinci and Berkeley Homes.

Deputy editor for two of the company’s flagship woodworking magazines (Woodcarving & The Router) my job was to prepare all editorial copy for publication in each magazine.Duties & Achievements: • Subbing all editorial copy of both magazines• Commissioning articles for publication • Writing feature articles and all the ‘home’ pages in each issue • Conducting interviews• Supplying all editorial copy and liaising with designers and art editors over page lay-out matters • Creating all headlines and standfirsts throughout the magazines• Dealing with post-production matters including responsibility for correcting any errors on wet proofs and ensuring all materials are returned to the contributors of both magazines

I was inspired in a communications career by being finalist in the United Nations Debate of the Year. It changed my outlook on the world.
