As a result of my internship at the UNIDO headquarter in Vienna, Austria, I got introduced to the Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) of the UNFCCC at UN City Copenhagen, Denmark. We agreed on a cooperation for my Master thesis in the program Sustainable Cities (M.Sc.) at Aalborg University Copenhagen with the title:"The Climate Technology Centre & Network under the UNFCCC - An operational effectiveness and stakeholder perception analysis"The Master thesis evaluates the operational effectiveness of the CTCN being in its third year of operation and reflects on implications for the future development of the CTCN. It includes the three objectives of (1) reviewing the current operations in reflection to the CTCN’s political mandate, (2) analyzing the stakeholders’ perception in terms of operations as well as effectiveness and (3) formulating policy recommendations.The results of the thesis were considered as highly useful for the CTCN. They revealed interesting and to some extent unknow information about the stakeholder perception and will be used for the future development of the CTCN.

At Flisen I was responsible for the stock, deliveries, staff organisation, shift plans, concept/marketing and daily operation. I worked in this position simultaneously to my Master program 'Sustainable Cities'.

I was an intern in the Industrial Energy Efficiency Unit within UNIDOs Environment Branch.My main project dealt with the issue of 'decoupling' in energy, water and material use in the manufacturing sector of African countries. My research contributed to a report for the UN Economic Commission for Africa and targeted a better understanding of how to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN.Main responsibilities: data research, extraction, processing and visual display; report editing.

During my internship at the ECE I worked closely with a development manager on real estate and property development projects. The focus was mostly set on hotel, office and industrial real estate. The internship allowed me to gain valuable knowledge of the complex and fast-paced, but strongly exciting world of project developers. My task can be summarized as the following:- Market and competitor analyses- Profitability and feasibility analyses- Sustainability in the built environment (DGNB and LEED certifications) - Assistance in the daily operations of a development manager (incl. design of presentations and texts, participation in external/internal meetings)Further, I have worked on the following issues:- Maintaining research databases- Familiarization with the specifics of hotel real estate development/hotel concepts- preparation and submission of an official bid for a hotel development

I was a technical and customer support agent for the clients of KielNET (regional telephone and internet provider). I responded to any customer request regarding contracts, products, tariffs as well as finding solutions for technical problems. As an agent I had access to the control software of the whole grid system in order to solve the customers problems. Preliminary to the job, I was trained for three months in technical problem solving and communication. It is important to me to mention that the agents never had to make advertisement calls or contracted customers over the phone.This job gave me a useful technical understanding and fostered my interpersonal/communication and problem solving skills.

I was working for the Planning Department as an external, freelancing planner. Field of work was the creation of a Regional Planning Report with the focus on the identification of potential areas for wind power in the state Schleswig-Holstein.In addition, I supported the extensive public participation process required by law in development projects undertaken by the government.

As intern at the Planning Department of the Ministry of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein, I worked mostly within the topic of regional and supra-regional cooperation & development. Several international and national projects such as EU-INTERREG, MORO Nord, Metropolitan Region Hamburg or the German-Danish cooperation have been in my focus.In addition, I wrote a strategy paper on health care and public services in the Metropolitan Region Hamburg and prepared several presentations and speeches for national and international conferences.

After a six-week internship I was offered to work for the company as a freelancing journalist. I worked independently in the fields of investigation, film shooting, interviews, and post-production of stories/contributions for the daily news show Sat.1 Regional (for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein). Thematic focus: Society, economy, environmental issues, politics and sports.

Scope of Work: - (Implementation of ) Environmental Management Systems (EMAS, ISO 14000) - Identification and empowerment of sustainable development strategies/projects- Creation/realization of a successful campagin to reduce energy consumption at the Kiel University- Science communication (TV, print, audio)

Work and Travel in Canada. I worked as a Lead Hand - Barista during the whole winter season in the restaurant Rendezvous on Blackcomb Mountain. This time provided me with a helpful and interesting insight in the tourism sector and further improved my communcation and customer service skills.

Work and travel in Canada. I was a Barista at Timothys World Coffee. After two weeks I was responsible for the closing shifts, which included cleaning, cashing up and preparing the coffee shop for the next day as well as securing the shop for the night. This job strongly increased my communication and customer service skills.
