Currently working with a great team at ICare Faster Point of Care in Metro and Rural health care. An exciting project that really provides change for patient presenting with Chest pain to their local ED or Rural general practice. Rapid high sensitivity Troponin has been available in our laboratories for some time, however with the increased demand on our health system the results are not available to the clinician when decisions are being made. This cause and affect generate longer length of stay in our Emergency Departments. The opportunity is the same in our rural communities however equity of access and care could be improved with the application of this technology. Our rural communities deserve the same access and equity as our metro population.

Designed and implemented an accelerated chest pain programme in primary care. The problem we were trying to to solve was that NZ rural primary care wanted to reduce the amount of unnecessary referrals of patients with chest pain to manage possible cardiac ischemic events. The tangible and non tangible cost on patients time and the health system are quite taxing. In short general practice lacks the ability to support its clinical acronym and suspicion due to its rurality and requires an agreed pathway and the diagnostic ability to support its referral. The research project incorporate an accelerated risk stratification pathway and a first time ability to utilize point of care troponin in primary care NZ.

The Radiology nursing team is an integral part of Waikato DHB. A highly specialised team that works in partnership with interventionists to provide diagnostic support to medical teams. Establishment of measurable targets for bookings achieved.Assessment, Recruitment and implementation of booking clerk.Review/Re-development/implementation of CT Cardiac Angiography policy and procedure.Logistical planning and completion of moved to new interventional premises in 2013.Daily team meetings to improve and support organisational change, identify critical blockages and departmental patient flow issues.
