Collected data, prepared monthly reports and performed surveys for research study, spearheaded website and social media communications, assisted project coordinator in daily operations, recruitment and training of volunteers, facilitation of relationships between volunteers, corrections staff and former offenders, promotion of Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) in Halifax and Nova Scotia. CoSA is a proven grass-roots safety initiative that offers released former sexual offenders considered high risk to re-offend, the means to break the offense cycle by supporting and holding them accountable following their release after incarceration. On a voluntary basis, the offender, or “core member,” agrees to meet regularly with a group of screened and trained volunteers who, knowing the core member's history of offending, provide assistance and model healthy, pro-social attitudes and behaviours. The bond that develops within this circle builds strong motivation and strength in the core member's struggle to live crime-free for the remainder of his life. The dual mottos for CoSA are "No more victims" and "No one is disposable."
