2013, I retired from business due to a rare and life-threatening condition called acute aortic dissection type A, which affects the main artery of the body. For 10 years, I dedicated my time and energy to raising awareness and supporting research on aortic disease, both locally and globally. I founded, led, and partnered or participated with several initiatives and organizations that aimed to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life of patients with aortic disease, such as the September 19 movement, Think Tank Aorta, Vascupedia, The Marfan Foundation, Swedvasc, Disease Maps, The Aortic Dissection Collaborative, Eurordis & Rare Connect and Vascular Cures. I also contributed to publications and books on this topic, sharing my personal and professional insights and perspectives. My mission was to try to educate and empower others who are affected by this condition, and to advocate for more resources and attention to this rare and sometimes not well known area of cardiovascular health.
