About Timothy Murphy
I recently graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I have gained experience in the automotive field, as well as new product designs. I went on two co-ops during my time at Wentworth, the first being junior year at TMI Autotech, and the second during senior year at Chip Ganassi Racing Teams. At TMI Autotech I worked on designing fixtures for manufacturing parts, as well as designing various components for the cars. At Chip Ganassi racing teams I worked as a Design Engineer in the NASCAR Division designing various testing manifolds, fixtures for components, as well as designing portions of the chassis for the race cars.During my first year at Wentworth I joined the Society of Automotive Engineers, and helped with the final stages of the design for the Baja car. In my second and third year in the club I became Vice President and I lead the manufacturing/fabrication group which is in charge of machining parts for the Baja car, and doing the assembly of the vehicle. In my classes I worked on redesigning an air motor to triple its power and to run as a pump in a geothermal house heating system, as well as analyzing a car jack to see what components will fail under certain loads.
