  • The Pensions Regulator
    Technical Lead
The Pensions Regulator Feb 2007 - Dec 2007
I worked as the technical lead of a team producing a public facing web application that is being used to collection pension scheme data for the British Government. The data is being used to raise the £800 million levy required by the PPF (Pension Protection Fund). The project was developed using the SCRUM agile development methodology. During the project I designed a custom code generation strategy, creating a custom DSL (Domain Specific Language) using the Visual Studio SDK. This language was successfully used to create the application’s domain model, data access code, stored procedures and normalized database. This strategy allowed us to quickly create an optimized application with very few bugs. It was used on several subsequent projects in order to reduce the delivery time and related development and testing costs.
  • The Pensions Regulator

The Pensions Regulator Mar 2006 - Jan 2007

The project was developed using the SCRUM agile development methodology which resulted in all aspects being delivered to specification, on time and on budget. The application was built using a three tiered, fully transactional and scalable, service oriented architecture (SOA). The UI tier was constructed using ASP.NET 2.0 custom controls and CSS layout. The resulting pages all conformed to the British Government’s accessibility standards (W3C). The business tier was programmed using C# 2.0, Enterprise Library (from Microsoft) and ADO.NET. The data tier was produced using SQL Server 2000 with all data operations performed using Transact-SQL stored procedures. The main database kept a full historical record of the organisation’s data including logically deleted entities.
