I am a creative leader with ideas that produce positive user experiences. I do this by listening, validating, and connecting on an intentionally personal level. I’m smart, dependable, and kind. I have seen the full spectrum of what it takes to deliver usable, interactive technology. From my experience, the foundational work we do early on to fully understand the end user is the greatest indicator of a successful initiative.However, I have always believed that the experience isn’t limited to the end user. In my view, the full experience includes how we go about our work, how we talk to each other, how we lift each other up, and how we make each other better. I believe design thinking within cross-functional teams helps to promote a better understanding of goals, enables inclusive collaboration, and leads to better outcomes.Connecting is key. I’m at home around designers in a studio. I’m experienced enough to hold my own in an agile scrum with software engineers. I can handle the pressure of storytelling and prototyping for a board room. Designers, developers and strategic leaders all speak a different language. Knowing when to dial it up or down is a skill. I don’t know too many people that can take complex ideas and translate them into meaningful conversations with any audience.Today, my focus is on developing skills as a UX strategist and becoming an accessibility expert. I am specifically drawn to great design that is inclusive for all users. Not because it is smart from a legal standpoint, but because we should create solutions that work for everyone. My greatest skill is design, but my superpower is empathy. I connect with team members and clients with authenticity and a shared desire for delivering the best work we are capable of producing.
