I lead energy policy and climate change convenings for the Aspen Institute, including signature gatherings like Aspen Energy Week, the Aspen-Columbia Global Energy Forum, and the Aspen Winter Energy Forum as well as specialty dialogues and consensus-building initiatives.These high-level, nonpartisan dialogues bring together top experts from industry, government, academia, and non-profits for not-for-attribution conversations about key issues in the energy system broadly, and combatting the climate crisis in particular. The dialogues seek to build relationships and broaden possibilities for a cleaner and more equitable energy future. Sessions are designed to encourage intellectual breakthroughs, dissenting opinions, and candid discussion to inform perspectives, thereby affording participants an “over the horizon” view of critical and emerging issues, enhancing decisionmaking and catalyzing action.Our goal is to invite leaders to reimagine what they think possible in terms of politics, economics, technology, and above all, relationships, especially with those whom they might not have previously viewed as potential partners or allies. We hope to therefore unleash the transformative power of ideas to improve the policy process, in keeping with the highest traditions of the Aspen Institute.
