Working with companies to integrate business processes for more effective supply chain planning

Own and operate a commercial painting and flooring business with approximately twenty employees and multiple subcontractors. Oversee a staff of six people who operate the day-to-day sales, operations management, and administration activities of the business. Work to make the business better and also sell and manage jobs as needed.

Supported strategic business plan through sales and operations planning activities of capacity planning and management of manufacturing, packaging, and branch replenishment areas, and demand management through forecasting, order processing, appropriate cycle times, and communication with internal departments and customers.

Worked for NewPage Corporation, a $3B company who was a leading producer of printing and specialty papers. Managed sales and operations planning (S&OP) process to balance sales, production, and inventory levels across company. Forecasted demand, developed and recommended best course of action for supply-demand balance, reported forecast accuracy and variances to plan, and monitored industry demand and capacity trends for various paper segments. Initiated and led various supply chain improvement projects.

Oversaw “sheet” business planning, finished good, and work-in-progress inventory plans / targets, production planning, replenishment processes, and performance reporting. Directed mill order management functions for 4 paper mills (scheduling, trimming, loading, shipping, and teams, managing budget and reporting on variances). Improved fulfillment performance (assess gaps, set plans to close, and measure improvement) for key accounts. As member of business integration team during pre-acquisition period, planned new distribution model for new company and put in place mill order management teams at acquired mills.

Served as S&OP process lead for the Graphic Papers business area. Oversaw master planning and scheduling functions and business-area inventory functions, including 5 US regional distribution centers. Inventory management covered stocks produced in US plus those produced by Stora Enso European mills and carried in North America.
