As Design Director my focus was to communicate and coordinate the full scope of our landscape design/sales/build process with residential customers throughout Chicago's NorthShore communities.

Worked alongside the Design Director to provide in-studio day to day management of 5 - 7 person Landscape Design team. Beyond studio management, significant role was to create and deliver customized landscape design plans and proposals followed by overseeing our high quality craftsman as landscapes where implemented. Also played a key role in designing and delivering the companies print marketing efforts and the recruitment of new landscape architects.

Led the Real Estate Development Studio for this 60 person planning and design firm. Grew the studio from 3 professionals in 2000 to a peak of 15 landscape architects in 2007. Client focus was with private developers and land owners who engaged our entitlement and design services. Primary responsibilities included extensive networking within client group to nurture existing relationships and attract new high potentials and to provide senior design leadership to all active studio projects. Studio management responsibilities also included at a minimum; staff recruitment, management training, performance evaluation and advancement recommendations, studio business planning, revenue forecasting and receivable collections.

As one of three Senior Associates in this planning and design firm the expectation was for each of us to function as an entrepreneurial project manager/designer serving all market sectors. It was common that we each were managing and design projects that included Public Streetscapes, Community Parks, Office Buildings and Industrial Developments simultaneously.

The office culture emphasized the strong project manager which encouraged and supported young staff who eagerly accepted expanding responsibilities that allowed them to grow personally and professionally.
