I am a former police officer, now public safety product designer, who prides himself on always looking for a better solution. Whether in a patrol car or working the projects as a gang officer, I thrust myself into my work with a passionate intensity. In 2003, I married my former patrol partner, an equally intense gang officer named Kristina Ripatti. She was later shot and paralyzed in a fight with a robbery suspect, and our story became national news.
