Medical Student @EVMS, MD2026 | Co-founder, Owner of Amai Labs, LLC | MS in Physiology and Biophysics from the Georgetown University School of Medicine | Nationally Registered EMT | BS with a Double Major in Chemistry/Economics (+a minor in Biochemistry) from the College of William & MaryIt’s been said that the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. As an optimist (and jazz enthusiast) I like to think that sometimes life just likes to get us to ~improvise~ every now and then. That being said, my current best-laid plan is to pursue medical residency training in the field of anesthesiology upon the completion of my MD program. Here’s hoping there’s not *too much* improvisation along the way.A little bit about me:I’m a passionate lifelong learner and self-starter with an interest polymathic pursuits. I have a demonstrated track record of success across my academic, professional, and research-based endeavors. And though I strive for excellence, I also aim to always learn what I can and, more importantly, enjoy the path taken to get there! Like my interests, my professional background to date has been broad and varied - including experience in multidisciplinary research, project management, team leadership, technology, advocacy, entrepreneurship, communications, and health care.In a nutshell, I’m a service-minded, systems-based thinker who loves solving complex puzzles with effective, elegant solutions. My personal philosophy to problem solving is to always try and keep team-based, human-centric, and holistic perspectives in mind when considering potential solutions. This is often easier said than done - but if it was easy then tackling these challenges wouldn’t be nearly as much fun!

Senior Chemistry Research AssistantWilliam & Mary Aug 2016 - May 2017Environmental Analysis, Rice LabDuring my senior year, I worked as a researcher in the Rice Lab for Environmental Chemistry, I helped to validate previous and ongoing W&M Aviary studies involving mercury exposure. As a senior research assistant, I independently studied the binding properties of methylmercury to the amino acid cysteine, while also helping to analyze environmental samples for heavy metal content.Validation of previous W&M avian research was achieved by confirming effective methylmercury-cysteine binding to lab food substrate, and by analyzing the selenium content of the current lab food at the William & Mary Aviary.Using analytical chemistry, we were able to confirm the levels of mercury exposure to be accurate (via confirmation of effective binding sites and ruling out the likelihood of selenoenzyme antioxidant protection) -
Biology Research AssistantWilliam & Mary Jan 2013 - Aug 2015Institute For Integrative Bird Behavior Studies (Iibbs), Cristol LabWorking as a biological and chemical researcher, I explored the effects of industrial chemical spills on terrestrial animals.Specifically I explored how methylmercury exposure affected songbird development, behavior, and mate choice. I helped create and enact study designs and data collection methods to better understand the environmental impact of industrial disasters.Skills acquired: Grant writing, experimental design, lab management, behavioral research methods, audio editing software -
Health Economics Research LnternEast Tennessee State University May 2014 - Aug 2014Mountain States Health AllianceIn this role I worked alongside the Intensive Care Department at Johnson City Medical Center to gather, analyze, and publish trauma/critical care research. I primarily aided in a 10-year analysis of critical care costs in the regional geriatric population. Our analysis revealed that a crippling increase in rural critical care costs were due to due to 5 major factors (increased regional geriatric population, increased geriatric trauma volume, increased severity of geriatric trauma, increased ICU costs and decreased reimbursements.)Skills acquired: Data acquisition, cost analysis, writing abstracts, and interdisciplinary teamwork -
