I assist clients with all aspects of intellectual property matters including procurement, portfolio management, licensing, litigation, validity analysis, due diligence, post-grant proceedings including USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, and Federal Circuit appeals.I also provide arbitration and mediation services for intellectual property matters and general business disputes.

I developed and led a legal team handling all US and foreign post grant challenges against Intellectual Ventures’ patents, including Inter Partes Reviews, Cover Business Method Reviews, Reexaminations, EU Oppositions, and Federal Circuit Appeals. My team also collaborated with other IV business units on litigation matters, licensing, risk management, settlements, licensing agreements, IP policy matters, and related compliance issues for Intellectual Ventures’ investment funds.

I led legal teams conducting complex litigations, including patent and ITC litigations. Collaborated and advised on licensing, risk management, patent post grant issues, antitrust considerations, arbitration options, public relations issues, IP policy matters, and related compliance issues for Intellectual Ventures’ investment funds. I also managed technical teams supporting litigation.

While serving as a licensing attorney on various licensing programs, I led several projects to further establish Intellectual Ventures’ overall licensing business. I also managed attorney teams to establish Intellectual Ventures’ basic litigation function, addressing case development, risk management, antitrust concerns, document retention/discovery matters, public relations concerns, and related compliance issues for Intellectual Ventures’ investment funds. I managed technical teams supporting the litigation function and developed Intellectual Ventures’ first litigation cases.

I established and led the legal team supporting the Consumer Electronics Licensing Business Unit. My team conducted all associated patent licensing efforts, including program development, negotiations, agreement drafting, portfolio development, patent valuation, patent acquisition, risk management, antitrust considerations, public relations issues, and related compliance issues for Intellectual Ventures’ investment funds. I also managed technical teams supporting the licensing function and developed a number of Intellectual Ventures’ agreement templates.

I strategically managed portions of Intellectual Ventures’ US and foreign patent portfolio. This included managing legal teams focused on patent application prosecution, continuation filings, foreign filings, reissues, reexaminations, and appeals. I also assisted with patent acquisition, patent valuation, and developing licensing strategies.

I focused on all intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution and litigation, all aspects of intellectual property counseling, licensing, venture capital, and other general business matters. I worked with a wide spectrum of technology, including software, control systems, aviation systems, mechanical devices, electrical devices, medical devices, and semiconductor technology. I also provided client counseling on Federal Aviation Regulations involving aircraft operations and aircraft certification. My bar admissions include Washington State, District of Columbia, US Supreme Court, Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Western District of Washington, and USPTO.

I flew new and critically modified aircraft during all phases of aircraft type certification programs to ensure aircraft designs complied with Federal Aviation Regulations. I managed several major certification programs and multidisciplinary teams. I also provided engineering support and assisted in formulating FAA regulations/policies. I often coordinated/negotiated with foreign airworthiness authorities on aircraft certification and policy matters. My airman certificates include airplane (land and sea), helicopter, glider, balloon, flight instructor, and flight engineer qualifications, along with 16 type ratings.

I provided academic and flight instruction in all areas of flight test at this highly selective school. Academic topics included aircraft design, flight dynamics, propulsion, heat transfer, systems and avionics design, flight test procedures, risk management, flight test safety, program management, report writing, and oral presentation. I also maintained instructor currency in multiple aircraft.

I flew experimental flight test missions for the USAF, NASA, and DARPA on fighter, bomber, and transport aircraft. Flight test programs included stability and control testing, performance testing, systems testing (including fly-by-wire flight control systems and software), propulsion testing, and avionics testing. I managed multidisciplinary teams and several high value test/acquisition programs. I also provided engineering support, served as an instructor pilot, and maintained currency in multiple aircraft.

I attended this highly selective, year-long school, with an intensive flying and academic curriculum covering all areas of flight test, including aircraft and system design, stability and control testing, performance testing, propulsion testing, systems testing, avionics testing, program/acquisition management, report writing, and oral presentation. I maintained currency in multiple aircraft and received flight experience in over twenty five different aircraft throughout the year.

I flew developmental/research test missions primarily involving aircraft systems and avionics. I managed multidisciplinary teams and several high value test programs from inception through aircraft modification, flight test, and final report. I also provided engineering support. I flew various aircraft and maintained currency in multiple aircraft, including serving as a C-141 and T-39 instructor pilot/flight examiner.

I flew worldwide strategic and tactical airlift missions in C-141. I also served as an Intelligence Liaison Officer and a Flight Crew Manager.

I attended USAF Pilot Training in T-37 and T-38 aircraft.
