Timothy S. Wegner is a member of the mathematics department at Spring Arbor University. He graduated from Spring Arbor with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics as well as a teaching certificate for secondary education. He earned his Master’s degree in mathematics from Central Michigan University. While working at Spring Arbor, he also earned his Ph.D. at Michigan State University. His research focuses on the justifications students use when completing tasks in non-Euclidean geometry while using dynamic geometry environments. In addition to his interest in math education, he also has interests in recreational mathematics and puzzle solving.He has taught courses in both the mathematics and computer science departments and enjoys working with, and getting to know, the students of SAU. His students have seen success in all areas. Some have gone on to receive PhDs; some have entered the private sector; some have transitioned into the Armed Forces; and many, many others are enjoying success as K-12 educators.When not teaching, he enjoys reading fantasy novels, riding his bike, and playing with his 3D printer. He is an active member of his church where he heads up the audio/visual team. He is married to Kara Wegner, his high school sweetheart and fellow graduate of SAU. She is a teacher at Eaton Rapids Middle School. They have two beautiful children, Kellyn and Benjamin, who are forced to endure his constant ramblings on the math we can find all around us.
