One of my first memories of school was going to a parent-teacher conference and my teacher telling my mom, “Tina is definitely the most talkative, no matter where I move her in class, she still finds a way to talk to everyone.” This was not the first time my mother had heard a comment about my behavior in school. During preschool, she would pick me up, noticing on the behavior chart, my name, with a frowny face and a big red X on top. The teacher told my mom, “Tina is a very strong-willed child,” and it was her job to make sure it was directed in the right way. Comically enough, my first career was being a teacher because some things never change. I have developed a passion for not only being the voice of those who cannot communicate themselves, but also teaching people to communicate effectively. I have been working in the education field for almost fifteen years and am now planning to transition to the corporate world. Although successful in my teaching career, I have realized that the aspects of my work would be rewarding with adults as well. I am known for my dynamic communication style, adept in building relationships, and a shared sense of purpose. Teaching has instilled a variety of transferable skills I can bring into the corporate world: management skills, attention to detail, curriculum development, provide effective training, communication and data analysis to name a few.
