Planning Supervisor (Parks, Recreation And Cultural Resources Department)
CurrentAs a supervisor and project manager in the planning division of Raleigh Parks, I approach citywide goals from a systems perspective—exploring how parks, recreation, and open space fit into a broader context of city planning, community development, public health, and natural resource conservation.Core Responsibilities:Strategic planning and performance measurement in support of implementing the PRCR System Plan.Representing PRCR in city-wide planning efforts, including the City of Raleigh Strategic Plan, 2030 Comprehensive Plan, Raleigh Arts Plan, corridor studies, and small area plans.GIS workflow design and team coordination for the development of the Experience Based Park Access Model, a spatial model used to redefine how the City of Raleigh measures and tracks level of service for the parks system. (Winner of the G. Herbert Stout Cup Award for innovative use of GIS technology)Founding member of the City of Raleigh iTeam, an interdisciplinary group of highly motivated employees selected from across the city government, responsible for developing and managing the IDEAraleigh public ideas competition.Interface with Planning, Zoning, and property owners in rezoning, subdivision, and site plan review; ensuring consistency with regulations for greenway land dedication and PRCR goals and policies; as well as negotiating for the provision of public open spaces in the context of private development.Project management in both lead and supervisory roles, including the selection and management of consultant teams for planning, design, construction, and environmental assessment projects.Coordinating survey design, community outreach, data analysis, and mapping for a range of planning initiatives including park master plans, land acquisition opportunities, and community engagement.Preparation and presentation of plans, studies, and analysis for City Council, citizen groups, special interest groups, and various public advisory boards.
