Software Developer
Became solely responsible for developing and maintaining the companies internal systems. These were a variety of systems such as our client facing website, user portal and support help desk, as well internal facing sales opportunity tracking tools, billing system and content management tools. My biggest contribution was the total design and development of the companies automated billing tool. The tool required ingesting usage data from all client systems and computing this against a variety of usage cost calculations. The usage costs were on a per contract basis so an interface to create different costing configurations was also created. As well as improving the scalability of how billing was done, this dramatically increased the reproducibility of results and reduced error across billing due to the reduction in human error.

In my role as Team Leader I was responsible for up to 15 young people; providing supervision, motivation and inspiration to help them succeed and enjoy the NCS experience. Other Responsibilities included:⏵To deliver activities, and to be responsible for ensuring that young people complete the required 30 hours of social planning and action following workshops delivered by myself.⏵To act as liaison during the NCS programme for young people aged 16, 17 and their parents/carers with NCS.⏵To resolve minor issues on a daily basis that may occur within the team ranging from safety and welfare of the young people to motivating them through the challenges they faced in the programme. ⏵To ensure group harmony and facilitate the group dynamics, tackling any problemsand resolving confrontation.⏵To ensure that the team and myself adhere to all Risk Assessment protocols, observing all Health and Safety requirements.⏵Completing Risk Assessments and Dynamic Risk Assessments where appropriate.⏵Making sure that the deadline was reached in a timely manner along with completing the required hours while maintaining a good work ethic amongst the team.⏵To be an active member and ambassador of NCS, taking part in the project where appropriate and demonstrating a ‘joining in’ team spirit and ‘can do’ positive attitude.
Peer Mentor
Over my third year at the University of Leeds, I have been selected to provide a peer mentor support service for younger students. This involves organising regular meetings to provide guidance or assistance in anything non-academic related, and essentially to act as a friend to turn to when their academic tutor isn't the desired first option.
Undergraduate Student Researcher
The project was titled "A sensory network for human intent recognition". It was an individual project lasting 2 months which required building a network of IMU's and then running high computational methods to predict the type of movements the wearer was making.3 IMU's where used each containing 9 sensors; accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers each with sensors in 3 directions. These 3 sensors where connected to a raspberry pi through a multiplexer. 3 machine learning algorithms where used for the prediction of data. 1 using neural networks and 2 using a naive bayes approach each with unique uses. The project was very successful, achieving a 98.9% prediction accuracy and should hopefully assist future researches expand of off the base to produce a useful mechanical output to assist people walking. The project was a brilliant learning experience. Having freedom to do you own work and facing the challenges that brings up. I feel a lot more capable of tackling my own projects and understand how to go about them.
