My greatest career passions include investigations, forensics, technology, and digital multimedia evidence. I have over a decade of law enforcement experience. I have been a Certified Evidence Technician through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board since 2013. I have been a Certified Forensic Video Technician through Law Enforcement & Emergency Services Video Association International since 2023. I have had involvement in the implementation of large-scale technology projects such as Axon body worn cameras, Tyler Technologies New World dispatching and records management system, and Genetec video management system. I have familiarized myself with a wide selection of security camera and video management systems, including Genetec, Aviligon, Milestone, Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, Hanwha, Pelco, and GeoVision.I have processed crime scenes and collected security camera video from a wide selection of residential and business security camera systems in thousands of major criminal cases and other legal matters including homicides, shootings, armed robberies, and burglaries. My greatest joy as a police officer is working investigations, developing meaningful leads, and bringing justice and closure to victims of major crimes. My responsibilities have also included the installation, maintenance, and servicing of a city-wide network security camera system composed of hundreds of security cameras. I have been an instructor for a college-level forensic science course for over 5 years. I enjoy the leadership role and my greatest joy as a college instructor is watching my students grow as people and succeed in their careers. One quote that has resonated strongly with me and inspired me as an instructor is "the best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see." I try to provide my students with real-life experiences such as hands-on lab exercises based on true events, fields trips to the coroners office for autopsies, and police department open houses.I have owned and operated a security camera and technology business for over 5 years. Consulting, troubleshooting, and project planning with customers has given me further opportunities and experiences to expand my technical knowledge.
