My first week at Neighborly was like a mild case of culture shock. Mild, but still profound. I was introduced to an abundance of new concepts. Systems, acronyms, and entire phrases I struggled to understand. And along with them, an entirely new group of people, each of them communicating said concepts with swiftness and precision, amounting to a sense of culture.Three months later, I had engaged in a variety of tasks, including wireframe design, database analysis, code coverage, modifying stored procedures, adding to pre-existing code, and participating in deployment. Furthermore, I gained a solid introduction to API development, MVC architecture, Entity Framework, and more.Thankfully, Neighborly decided to hire me full-time. At the time of writing this, I am excited to expand my knowledge and gain new skills. Even more than that, I am thrilled to become a part of the company’s culture. I will always be humbled by the opportunity to take part in something bigger than myself, and Neighborly—with their emphasis on respect, integrity, enthusiasm, and having fun in the process—certainly qualifies.
