About Taranjit Litt

Taranjit is a results-oriented individual who is passionate about the fields of control systems and automation. He has recently completed a full-year internship within the control and automation group at Glencore-Kidd Operations – a mine site located in Timmins, Ontario. It was this experience which fueled his passion in pursuing a long-fulfilling career within these fields of work.During his internship, his focuses lied on providing solutions for the Ventilation on Demand project – which sought out to provide ventilation solutions to the deep portions of the mine. His responsibilities included, but were not limited to, the design/development of the HMI system, IO testing, commissioning of various underground systems, and assisting the ventilation team in troubleshooting various issues. Taranjit has provided innovative and efficient design solutions with respect to the HMI system that the previous systems had yet to deploy – which resulted in various time being saved and standard procedures being developed in regards to troubleshooting issues.Taranjit enjoyed working alongside the control and automation group as well as the various stakeholders involved (vendors, vent team and the control room operators). He understands the value of process efficiency, especially within the control and automation field, and the value it adds to the operations of an organization. Taranjit considers himself a valuable asset to any organization looking for individuals who truly seek out process innovations and improvements. His short term goals include working his way towards acquiring his P. Eng designation, acquiring an MBA and delving into the world of project management.

Glencore – Kidd Operations, Timmins, ON • Developed the Ignition-HMI for the VOD project and other pre-existing systems such as the 4500 HP Fans and Fridge Plant – made the system robust by implementing three layers of security (Computer IP check, Username/Password verification and User Roles acquired through the database server)• Worked on PLC programs - primarily Unity, and some Concept – to be used to perform IO Tests from the HMI to the PLC and then the PLC to field. (Rollup Doors, Aux Fans, Louvers and Airflows)• Worked with vendors over the phone and within the field to install and troubleshoot airflow instruments and diagnose ventilation related issues Field Work• Worked alongside colleagues to commission airflows, louvers and auxiliary fans from 6800-9500ft underground• Performed various troubleshooting tests such as the 4-20mA test to verify breaks in the current loop• Established network connectivity to various instruments within the field and resolved issues by performing various network tests (changing IP’s and using mini-switches to connect through to various VLANs)
