Tom's work as a checkout supervisor involved him working closely with checkout staff, managers and customers. Tom was often relied upon to ensure the checkout facility was running smoothly in store, and was also called upon to act as a point of escalation as required. Tom was also required to - Prepare the checkouts for the day's trading - Shut down the department at the end of the day - Run the checkout department in the evenings - Train staff - Perform various financial tasks in the store's cash office.
