People say make a career out of what you love don't they? I love running, food, wine, travel and my wife & cats. Lacking the speed of a Usain Bolt and the palate of Massimo Bottura, travel was the stand out career choice. Deciding to pursue that career with one of the industry giants, Flight Centre Travel Group, has been a good decision. The scale of the organisation opened up opportunities for me to take on a variety of roles starting as a young and eager booking agent in Birmingham (Galileo anyone?), progressing through the management rungs and experiencing running different parts of the business as a Manager, Director, GM and VP. Along the way I've appreciated the company's irreverent corporate culture and have enjoyed some pretty epic celebrations across the globe. Receiving the Directors Award from within 2000+ of my peers has been one of my proudest moments. Moving to the US to take on the VP, Americas Procurement role is my current challenge - here I lead the Americas product strategy for the global business. With a diverse team that spans from Florida to Hawaii I learn as much from them as I hope they do from me. We aim to give the best standards and experience for the end customers and our partners - with a strong commercial return for the business. Travel constantly changing is nothing new but the last 2 years have certainly made this more prominent. This means our business must adapt to this evolving travel climate, ensuring we service different markets and customers in a way that makes sense. I like to stay curious and since I travel a lot for work and pleasure, reading/listening materials are a must. Favourites include: Never Split the Difference, the High Performance Podcast, Business Wars Podcast, The Advantage and The Wine Spectator.
