I have had a diverse marine research career to date which has ranged from experience in marine consulting and management in the Middle East to research, education and conservation in places such as South Africa and the UK. My research interests primarily centre around the spatial ecology of marine predators, conservation and overlaps with commercial fisheries. Currently I am a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town investigating the spatial ecology of the bronze whaler shark using a blended approach namely; tag-recapture, acoustic telemetry and genetics. I have a strong analytical foundation to apply to research coupled with excellent communication ability having worked with diverse groups of researchers, NGOs, non-scientists and members of the public.

Sales AdviserO2 (Telefónica Uk) Oct 2013 - Sep 2015As a sales adviser I was responsible for ensuring high quality customer service, but with a twist. Whether this was through initiatives such as elaborately drop-testing phone cases in front of clients, actively engaging with the customer to get a hands on feel for products or going the extra mile to follow up with the customer after a transaction was complete. Moreover I developed a mobile phone recycling scheme that engaged company management, new and existing customers, as well as local schools and charities. By building awareness amongst colleagues and the public about the value of recycling old devices, I was able to increase old device donations that totalled £400 in the first quarter, which was matched by my employer. I also demonstrated excellent salesmanship skills to harvest new business as well as retain existing loyal customers, as well as time management and organisation balancing my employment commitments with my studies. -
