I am currently a Head of Learning for a further education music and creative media college in Birmingham. The organisation is a national organisation with nine centres around the country. The college delivers post 16 courses in Music Performance, Music Business, Music Technology, Sound engineering and Creative Media. We also run degree courses in Music Business and Music Performance. I manage the staff team at the centre, permanent and freelance, currently around twenty staff, having responsibiluity for their performamance and development. I am responsible for the recruitment and success of the students and the day to day running of the centre. I personally interview most of the students who apply for courses and lead on student satisfaction and the learner voice.I teach in a variety of curriculum areas from music business, music performance, Functional Skills and music history.I lead on aspects of curriculum design and innovation as a way of widening participation from the local community. Producing a business plan that sustains the centre for the following year taking into account local LEP priorities and changes within the industry.Producing an annual self assessment report that analyses the relevant data and creates an action plan for improvement and growth.Working with local arts organisations to design and fund projects where the students can gain a wider appreciation of the arts industry and introduce them to potential employment opportunities and creative ideas.Representing the organisation on the Sandwell Music Hub Steering Committee. I am responsible for managing an annual budget of around £1.5 million that covers all aspects of the operation of the centre.
