Security Analyst with primary focuses of Vulnerability Management and Email Security.

My duties as an Operations Analyst are to ensure that the University’s network, systems, services and processes are running smoothly and efficiently. I assist in major incidents impacting our IT environment. I am also a member and facilitator of the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Exeter IT’s Operations Meeting, both of which are crucial in the seamless operation of IT within the University.

As part of the Desktop Support Team I provide second-line IT support to both Windows and Mac users across the University. We purchase, configure and deploy new equipment and software as well as training new staff. We fault-find hardware and software issues, perform network administration tasks, and advise users on solutions to ad-hoc problems. Software used includes; Windows 7/10, Office 2010/2013/2016/365, AD, SCCM, Mac OS X.

As one of a team of ten I used a combination of CRM and GIS software along with various internet-based tools to research customer details. This was to ensure that each account was up to date and correctly classified in readiness for forthcoming changes to commercial water supply. I also rewrote sixteen standard letters in order to improve the clarity and professionalism of documents that were sent to customers.

Part of the team managing the inventory for the whole store, and the highest performer in the SW market for 3 years running (15% more than nearest colleague). Used a variety of software and mobile apps to receive/send bulk deliveries of stock, verify/maintain stock level accuracy and ensure high levels of data quality. Provided procedural and technical advice to colleagues, especially regarding stock movement and processing. Assisted with process improvements and customer service enhancements as well as coaching new staff. I was also one of the store’s fire marshals.

The main focus of the work was to manage customer appointments for training and technical support, receive and return customer equipment for repair, provide telephone support, facilitate the virtual queueing used in the shop, give basic advice and technical assistance regarding all computing and mobile products to in-store customers, and provide sales support. I also gave introductory lessons on computers and iPhones to customers who had bought the 'One to One' training service.

As Senior Admissions Assistant I took direct responsibility for two undergraduate courses, cultivating a highly successful relationship between Admissions and the Academic Schools. Following promotion to Assistant Team Leader in July 2006 I moved to a new team where both postgraduate and undergraduate applications were processed - here I took sole responsibility for one of the largest Academic Schools in the University. I assisted and deputised for the Team Leader in all aspects of the work, helping to create the highest application turnover in Admissions. On joining the newly-created Postgraduate team in September 2007 I maintained the same balance of a strong work ethic and excellent customer service, as well as providing expert SITS and process support to my colleagues.

Part of a team migrating the European HSE database into a new Global database, I was directly responsible for all data quality checking using Excel. I also co-ordinated the translation of all textual data into over 40 different languages.

As the focal point for the Egis HSE database I took support calls and emails from users around Europe, produced the quarterly safety data CD-ROM, co-ordinated bulk data changes (including data translation into multiple languages) and maintained user/systems documentation.
