Elected by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) General Council to serve on the Gaming Enterprise Board of Directors, with over 13 years of experience in various leadership roles, including Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Chair of the Gaming Enterprise Audit Committee.The SMSC Gaming Enterprise Board governs the highly successful Mystic Lake Casino Hotel and Little Six Casino, overseeing all aspects of their operations. As an active board comprised of elected tribal members, we meet weekly to ensure smooth operations, compliance, and strategic oversight. Responsibilities include setting the strategic direction, approving operational and capital budgets, monitoring performance to meet financial goals, and guiding key areas such as marketing, operating policies, and guest and team member experience initiatives.

The Strategic Advisory Board is expected to assist the staff of Discovery Capital and the Office for Technology Commercialization by reviewing the pipeline of technology commercialization opportunities and new company spin-offs and making recommendations regarding the optimization of these opportunities and new companies.This is a volunteer position that invites high-level scientific and business minds to analyze and discuss advanced technological opportunities.

As a volunteer board member, I met quarterly to review the successes, opportunities, and issues related to the Children's Theater operations and fundraising. I also served as the co-chair of the Diversity & Inclusion work group, where we worked to identify and lead changes to enhance diversity and inclusion within the theater group and its community. Additionally, I traveled to attend national training on diversity and inclusion on behalf of the Children's Theater Board of Governors.

Led teams in developing comprehensive investment strategies, focusing on creating ROI formulations and performance metrics to evaluate future investments. Ensured that all potential investments aligned with core Dakota values, integrating financial success with cultural and ethical considerations. Collaborated closely with group members to balance return on investment with long-term sustainability and community impact.

As a founding board member of SMSC Hotel Development LLC, played a key role in creating and overseeing a significant business venture owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). This initiative led to the successful development and launch of the JW Marriott Minneapolis, which opened in November 2015. The board provided strategic direction and governance throughout the planning, construction, and operational phases, ensuring alignment with the community’s vision for high-quality hospitality and long-term growth.
