I have spent my entire career working in asset management for companies ranging from those that measure their AUM in trillions to those that measure it in millions. I'm currently providing product and treasury support to the short-term liquidity and Long Term Fixed Income desks at Goldman Sachs in their Asset Management Division.The success of an Asset Management firm is ultimately determined by how well they can meet their client's needs. In my short career, I have witnessed the industry shift from an open-ended fund approach to ETFs, the introduction and rapid growth of alternative investments, and we are now in the early stages of introducing fintech and machine learning. This ever-adapting culture to ensure client needs are met is perhaps what I find so fascinating about the industry and why I feel blessed to have gotten the opportunity to experience the change first hand.Larry Fink has often mentioned that those want to be successful in AM need to be "Students of the Market" and this is something I try to live by. Outside of the office, I'm usually studying for the next CFA exam, getting my feet wet in programming, or learning more about what current events are taking place and how they could impact the market. After reading a couple tear jerking articles, I'm also looking to get involved volunteering for the Big Brother/Big Sister program.
