Todd Grigsby Work Experience Details
  • Tge Software
    Owner
Tge Software Nov 2014 - Present
    Manteca, Ca
Taking my experience and skills earned at Retail Pro International, LLC, I reopened TGE Software to serve the retail information systems community. We have a number of integration products, and are available for contracts including but not limited to customizations of the Retail Pro 8, Retail Pro 9, and Prism products. I personally created the Retail Pro 9 plug-in API, the Prism REST and RPC service module, the Retail Pro 9 licensing and hardware layers, and I and my team have created customizations for Retail Pro's entire product suite, as well as warehousing and logistical systems for a number of customers using a variety of Windows, Linux, and mobile technologies. We are uniquely qualified to understand and take advantage of the underpinnings of these systems to build industry-specific and business-specific subsystems and user interfaces.
  • Retail Pro International, Llc
Sr. Systems Architect & Design Manager
Retail Pro International, Llc Jun 2004 - Oct 2014
    Folsom, Ca
As the Software Architect, I functioned as an expert resource and architectural lead for the other members of the development group, both the local development group in Folsom and contract developers, while also doing development on key pieces of the core product line. Retail Pro uses Delphi as their primary development language and embedded Oracle as their primary database. As the architect and lead developer I developed the framework, from scratch, for the REST+RPC+XML/JSON+Oracle/MySQL web services system, RPS, used as the database-agnostic back-end engine for the browser and thin client versions of the Retail Pro point of sale system. RPS authentication was derived from OAuth. Source control is done using Tortoise on Mercurial. I was also the original developer for their plug-in API and licensing architectures. The plug-in API uses COM as the interface protocol. Using that interface I’ve developed example plug-ins in Delphi, VB.NET, and C#.NET, and taught classes on the API to business partners. RPro V9 and PIAPI source control uses MS VSS. Some of the other technologies I've worked with include Apache, DUnit, ISAPI on IIS, TCP/IP, HTTP, Java, some Hibernate, localization, and encryption. The licensing system I developed allows business partners to assign and manage seats, sites, and licensed features for their customers through the Retail Pro OPS system. I leveraged the plug-in architecture to create hardware support for 12 different types of hardware described in the UPOS specification. I’ve also been involved in the accounting link, import/export, and store locations projects. All of the applications and support components are designed to scale from single user up to multi-subsidiary, and even multi-country, enterprise configurations. I finished off my tenure at Retail Pro as the Design Manager, coordinating the designers and serving as a technical bridge between the design group, the development group, and the product management.
  • Panoramic Software, Inc.
    Systems Architect And Primary Developer
Panoramic Software, Inc. Jun 1999 - Jun 2004
    Larkspur, Ca
Panoramic is the industry leader for county case management software in California. As the hands-on Systems Architect and Primary Programmer, I was in charge of the development, implementation, installation, documentation, and maintenance of software for county Veteran Affairs, Public Guardian, and Public Administrator offices. My initial focus was porting Panoramic’s application development tools from MS-DOS/Borland Pascal to Delphi, resulting in a comprehensive object oriented component package. I then ported the flagship product, PG Pro, to Windows, developed Auction Pro, and installed both of these products at customer sites. The object-oriented toolkit I developed and used to build these applications provides a large amount of functionality specific to case management and financials into any application built using the toolkit, and facilitates better version management and customization. This allowed us to extend our reach to encompass many other case management applications. I managed all aspects of design and development of the toolkit and the applications built using it. The object-oriented toolkit Just prior to leaving Panoramic, I was developing a new application toolkit using Java, EJB, and Struts in an Apache Tomcat on the backend, JDBC to connect either to an MS SQL Server or Oracle database, and JSP and Javascript to implement the interface. XML was used to configure the application and provide import and export capabilities.
  • Dhl
    Sr. Developer
    Dhl 1994 - 1999
As the Web/Intranet Development Lead I used Java, NetDynamics 4.1 and Vignette StoryServer to create client side applets and server side Java classes that generated data-aware HTML applications. Applications used SQL to access Informix databases. Process communication was done via CORBA and RMI. My final project at DHL was a complete redesign of the U.S. web site, a site that spanned over 5000 pages, with the result being a shipping portal capable of providing shipping details, job information, IATA lookups, and rate calculations. The team I led completed the project in only two months by eliminating static pages and hooking the web site up to DHL's internal service directory database, HR database, and internal services to provide dynamic content, and even extended the functionality of the site by providing site location services and rates and service level lookups.Prior to the activity above, I was the Lead Engineer for a client application written in Borland Pascal. This application is currently processing $1.5 billion in DHL shipments (45% of all shipments) worldwide. I managed all aspects of development including design, coding, testing, documentation, distribution, and conversions. I later started a port of the application to Windows. I also assisted with the development and implementation of a new client/server Netscape plug-in application called DHL Connect, designed to use the Internet (TCP/IP) for communications.
