Ask any Mechanical engineer why they chose their discipline and you will probably get some variation of, "I wanted to build cool things and solve interesting problems". I was no different. But after three years of forwarding emails and a pandemic layoff, I realized that all my friends in software has built far more things and solved far more complex problems than I had. So one code boot camp and a couple apps later here I am, continuing to learn and practice coding until I can get paid to learn and practice code. On a personal level, i am a very active person who enjoys being outside participating in one of many active hobbies. Mountain biking, triathlons, rock climbing, and skiing to name a few. Tried being a workaholic this year, but learned that 10-12 hour days are only sustainable for so long, and if I want to maintain quality output professionally or personally, I have to take care of myself first. These active hobbies are how I do that.
